We lived just north of LA and my kid's favorite outing was always the Glendale Americana mall, the Getty Center or Descanso Gardens. ÂNothing spectacular there and I would avoid it. Â
I'm not sure if there are any toddler friendly activities inside Universal Studios besides the studio tour bus ride. but even that has some very scary, loud things like the Jaws and fire/ flash flood/ earth quake exhibits. Â
The LA Zoo is a few minutes away and great for kids. ÂThere is also a train, western museum and observatory.
Hollywood and highland is also a touristy mall, but it has the walk of fame and a good view of the Hollywood sign for pictures. ÂIt also has a splash pad for toddlers.
